Rosh Chodesh Shevat  5769

The mateh l'elef program, in which each Israeli soldier was twinned with a concerned Jew for tefillah and acts of chesed,  was initiated by Rabbi Simcha Hacohen Kook, Chief Rabbi of Rechovot and the Bostoner Rebbe of Har Nof, Jerusalem. The twinning was facilitated by the National Council of Young Israel During the recent war, close to 100,000 Jews worldwide participated in this show of concern and unity.

We enclose today a tefillah sent to us by the Chief Rabbi of Israel, Rabbi Yonah Metzger, wherein he asks each community, each shul, and each Jew, to include it in their prayers. In addition, we include a list of soldiers and civilians who were injured during the war and are still in hospitals and would benefit from your prayers.. We also ask you to keep in mind the captured soldier Gilad ben Aviva (Schalit)
May they all have a complete and speedy recovery.
